ERASMUS+ mobility promotes growth and develops competitiveness

Thursday, 18. july
In July, within the ERASMUS+ academic staff mobility, three professors of Rezekne Academy of Technologies (RTA) representing the Faculty of Engineering visited “Angel Kanchev” University of Ruse (Bulgaria).

After classes, the professors came to the conclusion that the partner university students are strong in technical sciences. They are intensively involved in contract research and problem solving for entrepreneurs. RTA is also working in this direction, so Ruse`s experience is important for us to intensify the process in Latvia. Both universities have many common study and research fields, such as mechatronics, automation, laser technology, and more. So far, RTA has worked with the University of Ruse in the preparation and implementation of joint projects. The Bulgarian partners are co-organizers of the international scientific and practical conference “Environment. Technology. Resources.”.

Rezekne Academy of Technologies follows strategic challenges and specialization strategy in the Latvian higher education area. Based on existing developments in the field of laser technology, the staff of the Faculty of Engineering, in collaboration with several partner universities in Bulgaria and Germany, is working on a new joint doctoral programme “Laser Technology”. During the visit, a meeting was held to discuss the content, administration and licensing of the joint doctoral programme “Laser Technology”. Such a study programme is a novelty for both universities. The University of Ruse has more experience in implementing doctoral programmes which is essential for achieving result.

Thanks to the support of the ERASMUS + programme, active mutual mobility of professors and staff is currently taking place providing a good basis for intensifying student mobility, joint university growth, and increasing competitiveness.
