The conference focused on the latest findings of research and best practices in border security and management with emphasis on the challenges of immigration, integrated border management, the importance of cooperation in the field of border security and management, the importance of information technologies in border security, border guards` education improvement opportunities, as well as ethical and psychological aspects in border management.
The conference was attended by foreign and Latvian cooperation partners of the State Border Guard College: border guard educational institutions from Estonia, Lithuania, Poland, and Finland, representatives of Riga Technical University, State Police College, and Fire Safety and Civil Protection College, as well as authorities of educational institutions from Moldova, Belarus, Uzbekistan, and Kirgizstan. For the first time, Viktorija Pokule, manager of the FRONTEX Agency project “European Joint Masters in Strategic Border Management”, took part in the conference.
During the panel discussions, national representatives shared their experience and expressed views about today`s challenges of professional training of EU border guards, the role of information technologies and cooperation in modern border security and management.
Research results will be compiled and published in the journal of internal security and civil defense “Border Security and Management”, as well as in internationally recognized scientific databases.
