Representatives of various industries creating content for the media, teachers, students and other stakeholders who want to learn more about the functioning of the media and their specifics, and those who want to acquire practical skills.
Communication drives the most important processes in society. It provides information that shapes and influences public opinion, interprets, constructs, creates and publishes it. The role of transferring information has been undertaken by the mass media, which creates the reality of living and how to live for a big part of society. The mass media have a significant impact on the daily life of society - both private and public space, learning, education, socialization, art, culture, economics, politics and other areas. Therefore, the necessity to develop critical thinking of not only society but also of each individual is becoming more topical, so that consumers would be able to identify the purpose of information-building, in this way, promoting the consumption of targeted and meaningful media content. The best way how to achieve it, is by understanding how the media content is created.
The aim of the course is to provide knowledge and practical skills in creating media content. The course offers to look at the media conten creation process in various aspects from the use of language resources to strategic communication. The course also includes theoretical explanation and practical examples of promoting community media literacy, and is, therefore, suitable for school educators.
During the course, knowledge about the media, its functions, media message preparation, media discourse and means of linguistic influence will be given and will allow the audience to critically evaluate information, to perceive the true purpose of media reports and identify the facts from opinions by using different methods and approaches. The course will be useful for people who are interested in creating information, processing and dissemination by the use of means of mass communication. Topics of media literacy will be addressed during theoretical and practical classes.
Field trips to local and national-level media will be organized, in order to create awareness about the processes in the field of media. Participants will be able to learn about the specifics of journalism during the course. Meetings with media experts will be organized. Participants will have the opportunity to improve their practical skills in writing texts for variety of audiences by using diverse communication channels.
