One of the best multi-sensory rooms in the Baltic countries opened at RTA

Within INTERREG LAT LIT project POZCOPING LLI-163 the multi-sensory room at Rezekne Academy of Technologies (RTA) on Atbrīvošanas aleja 90, was opened on 19 December, with the participation of the administration of RTA, project developers, project Supervisory Committee, representatives of collaborating schools, and invited guests.


The aim of the POZCOPING LLI-163 project is to develop social psychological support service system to enhance social integration of social risk adolescents and youth at the same time introducing positive stress management strategies as a method for adolescents and youth social integration.

The project involves 350 adolescents aged 12-16 from 7 schools: Rezekne State Gymnasium No.1, Rezekne Secondary School No.5, Rezekne Catholic Secondary School, Rezekne Polish State Gymnasium, Ludza City Gymnasium, Viļāni Secondary School, and Lūcija Rancāne Craft Secondary School in Makašāni.

During the event Velta Ļubkina, leading researcher at RTA, presented the scientific results of the project, and Aivars Kaupužs, leading researcher at RTA, demonstrated functions and capabilities of the room which will be available to children soon.

In total, there are three separate rooms where children will have an opportunity to develop positive stress coping strategies under the supervision of qualified personnel and thus better socialize. It should be noted that this multi-sensory room is one of the best in the Baltic countries and unique in Latvia. The room will be available to the adolescents involved in the project from Rezekne, Viļāni, Ludza, and Rezekne municipality and later for citizens of other regions of Latgale as well.
